Eligibility: Juniors in high school who live in the Town of Gilbert or attend a school in Gilbert or Higley  and are U.S. Citizens.

Cost: The cost of the trip is free, although there is a $25 application fee and costs associated with hosting a
student from another country.
Applications are due October 19, 2018 at 4:00 pm. Please download and complete the attached application and
email it, with a current photo of yourself, to gilbertsistercities@gmail.com.  Please contact Mr. Stroud at christopher.stroud@gilbertschools.net or Mrs. Murphy melinda.murphy@gilbertschools.net with any questions.
Timeline: The information meeting for all applicants and parents will be held on October 25, 2018 @ Gilbert High School at 7:00 pm.  In November, the applicants will be asked to participate in a carwash helping with our Gilbert Sister Cities parade float.  In December we will host an Irish Social on December 1st.  The interview/application process continues in January with Interview Clinics, Group interview, the East to West Dinner, a family ice cream social, and finishes with the individual applicant interviews on February 12th.  Applicants will be notified on the evening of February 12th if they have been selected.

If selected, your family would first host a student from one of our sister cities for 3 weeks, beginning the last weeks
of June 2018. In July, the students fly to the sister city and stay for 2-3 weeks. Students return in August before
school starts (or a couple days later).

  2. Signed responsibility agreement (included in application)
  3. Applicant essay. Space for the essay is included in the application and should be no more than two
    pages long describing yourself, your interests, family and an average day in your life. Explain why you
    should be chosen as a delegate to represent Gilbert in our Sister Cities exchange.
  4. Parent statement. Space for the parent statement is included in the application and should be no
    more than one page, written by a parent, recommending the applicant and explaining how your family
    would be ideal for this exchange.
